weave-me beautiful.

Iv spent a small part of this year dabbling a little in the art of weaving... It is a very therapeutic exercise which apart from setting up a loom. It is a long and time consuming process ** boring/ mind numbing** so any professional loom makers out there please look in to developing an electrical/self setting up loom:..thank you muchly appreciated. Here are a few weaves I have produced, using silk yarns, wool, paper and voile.

queen print - screen print

During my time off from blogging I have been keeping busy with creativity-a-plenty. One of which is experimenting with screen printing techniques, slowly mastering the art of silk screen printing ** I have also lost my social life in the process which I hope is the ying part of the yang and will soon be worthwhile** I have combined this with using the method of emulsion transferring to create a distressed look in my prints.. With modesty, uh hum...I must say I like these prints so I hope you like as much as I do..

postcard pleasure

Finally I am back. I have been working like a trooper over the past few weeks which means my work is finally developing so I am now feeling a tad more confident..yipee to me! So as promised here are a few pieces of my mixed media work I have created, these are small postcards I have made as part of one of my previous projects, inspired by the Bamboo leaf..I love the delicacy of them, very dreamy...

Lene Toni

A danish wallpaper designer I have been privileged to come across Lene Toni, she is my inspiration for the current project I am working on. Her wallpaper designs are very unique, she uses a repeated print which blends in to another print (see picture below..my explanation skills are terrible).

Her colour palette is perfect for what I am doing, I love the distressed look and muted tones.

I will soon upload some pics of my mixed media work I produced for my last brief, I havent had too much time of late but hold on to your skirt belts..the time is near. My new project is also off to a fine start....I have been playing around with photo shop....how I have lived without this for twenty four years I do not know, so of course with every infatuation a lady has I am now looking to invest in a mac. I think a mac for a designer is like milk for a cat..vital.
