sneak a peak

Here is a little peek at my wall paper designs so far...dont judge me too much; they are a working progress. All of these designs are hand drawn as I am still working on layouts and layers ** no silk screen in sight just yet..still working myself up to the weeks of printing chaos ahead** but so far I am really pleased at how they are coming together and enjoying this project an awful lot..hope you like them so far (please don't tell me if you dont)

Rue Magazine

I have come across a lovely new magazine called Rue. The online magazine only began in 2010 but needless too add it is SUPER and very INSPIRING. The photography is fab, the features in it are to die for and the layout and colours are very calm and just make you want to read more. Definitely worth a read

inspiration

Here are a few pictures, interiors, colours that have inspired me for my current project.

architectural style drawing

Here are my drawings from the Worcester Cathedral. I have been experimenting with graphic style drawing and architect plans using pencils, ink and oil paints. My main focus has been on the lines; I particularly like the rawness and the markings on the page, it gives the drawing an aged element; think Michelle Pfeiffer rather than 'how not to grow old gracefully' Madonna. My next step is to create a repeated print for a wall paper. watch. this. space.

hidden beauty

I have chosen historical buildings as my subject matter for my new brief.  The Worcester Cathedral is on my doorstep ** not literally ** but close enough to admire its true beauty. It really is so beautifully detailed, you have to really look to see the detail but there is so much to admire within the cathedral grounds. look and thou shalt see

lost in lace

If you haven't yet been to the 'lost in lace' exhibition which is currently on at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, leave work, pack up your studio and go NOW. It really is a great treat with lots of international artists work within the exhibition. It is on until February 19th 2012 so if you haven't been yet I would highly recommend it. Here are a few pictures I took while there:
