Reiss: SS13 prints

print, design, david hockey, surface, pattern, textiles, fashion, inspiration, Reiss, style, blog, Zara Hilton

I spend a lot of time swooning over the Reiss website and now they are introducing more prints to their collection, it is likely to get out of hand. How lush is the print above? prints are everywhere now (which is great news for my future) but also so happy that Reiss are embracing this too. Reiss also have a style blog which is great and so inspiring to keep up to date with trends, colours or to just look at beautiful things.
I am not sure if Reiss could go up anymore in my estimation but with these dreamy prints..they have.

Maia Bergman is one to watch, her name alone makes me adore her. I have just fallen in love all over again. *swoon* She has just graduated from central St Martins and is now in great demand. The above is her graduation collection, good enough to eat right? The colours are so dreamy & the detailing is so intricate and spontaneous at the same time. She says she didnt want too screen print for her final collection...definitely a girl after my own heart.

January so far: in photographs

snow, baby, new born, print, quote, design, zara hilton, design blog, january, photo, pinterest, lakeland

January has just flown by, I am not one to get January blues, to me Janaury is more about embracing a whole new year, but I have been ill for the past week which has dented my mo-jo slightly. I am on the mend now though so I can get busy again...thank gawd! So my January has consisted of....

This is a lovely screen print I treated myself too, by  Jo Heckadon, it will sit perfectly in my living room /  I'v been taking pictures for my final project / I decided to start organising my kitchen and these glass jars look so much neater to store kitchen essentials in /  I am in love with this skirt & heels look, I found this one on pinterest. I need.

We walked up mount Snowdon...ouch. But admittedly it felt great after and perfect to clear a few cobwebs / My lovely kitten Rosie has been keeping me company all week while I have been ill, she has barely left my side (aaah) / I'v started making smoothies to get healthier and fight this dreaded cold / here he is...the mister.

Doesn't everything look so pretty and clean when it snows / I found this quote online and it makes me smile / My mister and I went for a compulsory stroll in the snow, there is nothing like being out in fresh air is there. (cc: spring...I am still eagerly awaiting your arrival).

Following on from my previous post (which if you have not seen, you can see here.) I am going to be looking at our chaotic lifestyle. Mine is the prototype of this, I am constantly multi tasking and brain storming idea's. I never switch off. I really like the idea of creating designs that show life, as chaotic and beautiful as it can be. These pictures represent a beautiful chaos, roads, traffic, light but also something interesting within. I am going to combine chaos with nature and see where I end up. Hopefully somewhere exciting!

Here are few snaps of my ss14 fashion samples. The pastel prints ooze summer, don't you think? I had in mind that these prints would be for garments such as silk shirts, blouses, pleated skirts and scarfs, all very soft and feminine. Oh how I would love to see my prints on garments some day! The black and white prints speak for themselves...you just can't go wrong with monochrome, so chic and effortless.

Inspiration: nature at its finest

I am now embracing my final project of my degree..(hooray!) I have started looking at nature as my subject which is a new direction for me. I usually look at geometric shape & architecture however I have an urge to go slightly softer this time, to begin with at least. I took these pictures in Snowdon on the weekend, my mister and I walked to the top and ouch it hurt! But I managed to get these great snaps so all was not lost. They remind me of the sea a little, as if they are underwater. Oh to be by the sea!

Inspiration: Christine Soccio

christine soccio, zara hilton blog, art, design, inspiration

Christine Soccio is a self confessed explorer; of re-purposed resources, the context of shape, blurred boundaries, exploring digital and physical markings and striving for fresh new approaches. Using the drip as her primary mark, she embraces the randomness of life and connects her strength to nature. These are her words, In a simplified nutshell she is absolutely fantastic.

inspiration: Anne Harper

Anne Harper is an artist who uses acrylic alongside other medias. I love the freeness (I am sure that is a word) of her work, it looks so natural as if all of her pieces were happy accidents. Gorgeous use of colour, layers and such a strong sense of femininity. I heart Anne Harper.
